marketing : know your customers
Know Your Customer
If you don't know who they are, you won't be able to sell to them. You also won't be able to cater for them.
How Do I Find Out Who My Customer Is?
Well, this process is always under review because things constantly change. People change, places change, and there are also events you just can't control - such as the modern day threat of terrorism. What you can do though is assess the area your holiday property is in, the typical type of people there on holiday currently and use that as a starting point. You can also build up pictures of your current holiday property renters.
Facilities?
The size, location and facilities of your holiday property will determine who you will attract in terms of:
- Families - (including size)
- Couples
- Older generations
- Young groups of friends
Also, you need to assess the kind of customer that would like the resort (or area) your holiday property is in:
- Beach
- Attractions
- Sight-seeing
- Golf
- Shopping
- Nightlife
- Food
- Proximity to the Airport
The Devil Is In The Detail
All of these factors will go towards building up a picture of the type of customer you should be trying to attract to your holiday property. People have different priorities when choosing a holiday location. A family with children would be interested in Florida for Disney, but not necessarily a location known for golf.
When customers book, or fill out questionnaires for you, ask them the questions that will help you build up a picture of who they are.
