Advertising Your Holiday Home
Advertising your villa or apartment is the way to get the word out to the masses. Where you advertise your holiday property, and how much you spend, will depend on what you are trying to achieve. You also need to assess what you want to achieve from the advert. You won't sell a week or two holiday rental directly from an advert but it is the first part of the process.
Marketing Guru, Seth Godin, describes this process in terms of dating. You don't ask someone to marry you on a first meeting. You first ask them on a date, then maybe after a few dates, you move on to a kiss, with the eventual intention being marriage. The advert for your holiday property is the first step of the process to actually getting an order. Your advert should lead to the next stage, whether it is a phone call, a website, or to receive a brochure about your holiday property.
Your advertising also needs to be cost-effective and appropriate based on your customer profile. Less is more if you can make it more specific, eg:
If your holiday property is close to a number of golf courses, you can make your advertising more specific:
- At work on a bulletin board
- At your local golf clubs
- Golf specific journals
- Local golf shops
- Golf related websites
The point is, you can make your money go further if your break it down to your typical customer, for your holiday property.
