Advice: Your Great Property

The Pack

Most people will want to know their way round in the first couple of days. They are only there for seven or 14 nights so the sooner the better.

Why not create a comprehensive guide to the local area?

The closest supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and attractions. Give them, or affix to your pack, a map of the area so they can find their way about and mark the places to go - Make it easy for them, make them feel comfortable with their surroundings. If you are catering for people who will use taxis, leave some address cards in the property so they can hand them to taxi drivers easily.

Even better, if you have the facility (a home computer will do) why not create a pack electronically and then either print and post (or send by email) the pack a couple of weeks before the people leave to go on holiday. It gives them the chance to read it on the plane - you could even call it the 'plane' guide to 'My Villa'. It will take a bit of work upfront but will be worth it over the long-term. You just need to make sure the details are correct every so often.

If the person gets the pack before they go you could also supply directions from the airport.

If you are relatively extrovert and have good relationships with a local restaurant, why not negotiate a voucher for your guests. £5 off a meal will make anyone think about giving it a try but make sure it fits in with your customer profile and that the place lives up to the expectations people will have. The owner of the restaurant benefits from getting a customer, your customer benefits from the discount. This could also work with golf clubs, bars, etc. depending on your customer type.
