Follow Up

When your customers have returned, leave it a couple of days and then send them a letter or email making sure they had a good time and that the villa or apartment was up to scratch. Ask if they had chance to fill in the questionnaire, thanking them for doing so. Perhaps you may also get a quote that they will let you use as a reference. If they didn't fill in the questionnaire, thank them anyway and just ask them in the email if there is any way that you could improve. This has two benefits:

  1. It shows a certain level of humility in that you know you could improve, and they could help you do it by giving you their advice - we all love to impart our opinions, especially behind the anonymity of an email.

  2. It also gets you first-hand information on how you could actually improve. Never rebuff someone's suggestions, always accept them, thank the person and tell them what good ideas they are, even if you have already tried them.
