Web Sites are a great way of attracting people to buy from you but don't expect them to suddenly find your website - you WILL have to advertise it. There are a number of ways in doing this, but the best is still advertising and word-of-mouth.
How you build your website is also very important and you will need a good level of technical knowledge. Building websites using everyday 'consumer' programs is all well and good, but the simple fact is - they don't build them efficiently. Ask any programmer and they will chastise this way of creating websites. The Search Engines also do not like them.
Register your website on Google, and other search engines, as soon as it is up but don't expect miracles. How you build your website, and how much value it has to the world in general, depends on whether Google takes you seriously or not.
Make it simple, easy to use with clear buttons and attractive but don't go overboard with gimmicky graphics. Include a photo gallery of the property and area but just enough to cover everything. The more graphics, the slower your website is. Also make sure all graphics are optimised, (ie. They are 72dpi at the size you use them).
Another important tip is to make sure that the website content changes, or is added to every so often. Include local information and links to other websites. If you can encourage people to link into your website as well, this will lead people to your site, and also make your website more worthy in the eyes of Google.
We mention Google a lot here, as it is the worlds biggest search engine supplying over 80% of the worlds searches. Other sites, including Ask and AOL, also utilise the Google Search Engine.
